About ICB

Integrative and Comparative Biology (ICB), formerly American Zoologist, is one of the most highly respected and cited journals in the field of biology. ICB’s primary focus is to integrate the varying disciplines in this broad field, while maintaining the highest scientific quality. The journal is dedicated to publishing findings from symposia and other events at the annual meeting of the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology as well as invited bundles (groupings). Details:

  • All articles are welcome in our grouping, as long as they are a lead by a woman or gender diverse person, and fall within the scope of the journal

  • Submissions for the grouping open from 1st of October 2026, through to the 1st of April 2027, with publication later in 2027

  • Authors publish for free under closed access- however, it is only closed access for one year (and accessible through most large institutions), and becomes free to read after that first year, for five years. More details on the ICB website
